USA Kung Fu Academy

45 Plant Rd., Hyannis, MA (508) 771-2620

master cruz

Master Cruz’s desire for Kung Fu began in the 1960s after watching Bruce Lee in The Green Hornet. It was there the seeds and the hunger for Kung Fu began.
He then began training in after school programs in Bronx, New York in 1969 with whatever the school had to offer and he can find. By 1976 he had moved to Massachusetts.
It was there he got involved with boxing and then in 1981 he found the USA Kung Fu Training Centers and began his formal training under Sifu Glenn C. Hart in Tzu Jan Kune Do.
With the thoughts of opening his own school, in 1989 he began competing in various national and regional tournaments. While gaining more knowledge of the arts and meeting so many great martial artists he also began promoting and running the Cape Cod Classic Tournament from 1990 till 2002.
In 1992 his dream of opening a school became reality when he opened the doors in Hyannis MA .He also was fortunate to meet his good friend Sifu Joe Maury who then became his older brother and mentor in Kung Fu.
In 2001 his teacher decided to retire and Master Cruz took over the system and renamed the school USA Kung Fu Academy.
He currently continues to train with his long time friend and brother in Kung Fu Sifu Joe Maury, Grand Master Winchell P.C Woo in five elements Tai Chi, and with Shaolin Monk Shi De Cheng who honors us with his visit from China at least once a year.
